Don’t threat on me

I’m 66 years old. I never imagined that I would see the day that there would be those in my country who would threaten violent revolution if they failed to get their way at the ballot box. Yet in 2010 there are those who are making this threat.

We could dismiss them as simply lunatics, crazies… But the threat has been made by candidates such as Sharron Angle, challenging Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in Nevada, and others running for office. The threat was even made by a cleric.

There are those who want to “take back” America. Don’t let them take it from you. There’s still time.

The kind of life you get to live depends upon it. Send a strong message to those who would destroy. There’s still time.

What the Tea Party threatens is democracy itself. They remind me of children banging sippy cups and wanting their way. Dismaying that the politics of those too young to vote are carrying the day for many. Willful ignorance is the real enemy.

One office holder or office seeker in Arizona (you know, the state with the Border-Patrol-shoot-’em philosophy) advocated publicly for a “second-amendment solution” if the election went against her, or someone’s, idea of the ideal. The wheels are coming off, ladies and gentlemen. We have one “party” that won’t cooperate when in the minority and which, if you listen to John Boehner today, WILL NOT COMPROMISE if it gains the majority — in the House, anyway. Does that sound like a democracy to you? That, folks, is what a dictatorship sounds like. I don’t have my red armband, but I do have my Parteiabzeichen (gold border, no less, meaning seniority) for the lapel. Never thought I’d really need it. Sieg heil.
