‘What Harm Could a Governor of Texas Do?’

Lone Star Candidate Kicks Off 2012 Bid

According to Andy Borowitz, “Gov. Perry said that he hoped to bring down the cost of the federal government the same way he reined in costs in Texas, ‘by making the state no longer habitable for human life as we know it.'”

Rick Perry will be running on the slogan, “What Harm Could a Governor of Texas Do?

According to the Washington Post, “Our opponents on the left are never going to like us, so let’s quit trying to curry favor with them,” Perry said.

Back atcha, Governor Perry, back atcha. It’s great to know that you recognize one — though only one — factual reality, “Our opponents on the left are never going to like us.”

For anyone that might be pretending to take Andy Borowitz seriously, please, get a life – he’s a well-known political satirist. Efforts to twist even a humor post to attack Kaye are transparently partisan – and pathetic. The extreme right in Longmont is desperate for attention and Mayor Baum’s smear machine is spinning its wheels furiously.

Doug, I fully know what satire is. And I have no doubt the most Free Range Longmont readers do as well, except those whose purpose is trolling.

I’m trained at the masters level in theatre and spent 30 years of my life in this field. The mechanisms of satire are many and varied.

The Borowitz Report is a wonderful breath of fresh air in an otherwise toxic environment where the rightwing conservatives are doing their utmost to destroy democracy and inflict widespread damage at home, around the nation, and around the world. It gives us an opportunity to laugh at that which is not, in reality, laughable.
