Swearing

Longmont City Council - Nov 7, 2011

Dennis L. Coombs, Longmont's 43rd Mayor

Longmont political royalty was on hand tonight for the City Council swearing-in. No less than Julia Pirnack and Leona Stoecker were in the audience at the swearing-in of Longmont’s 43rd Mayor, Dennis L. Coombs. Other notables included Tom McCoy and Roger Lange. It was a distinct pleasure to see Roger Lange, one of the most even-handed mayors Longmont’s ever had. His comment was “You’re going to really enjoy working with Dennis.”

Thank you Roger, I’m sure we all will.

Great to see a class act like Dennis Coombs as our new Mayor! A true “breath of fresh air” (to borrow Stephanie Baum’s quote when failed city council candidate Heath Carroll originally announced).

I am so excited for the new mayor as well! He will be a breath of fresh air. He does have a lot of work to do, I hope he doesn’t get tied up in all of the Longmont Drama and Shouting.
    Good Luck Dennis!

As usual, this could have been a swearing-at, not a swearing in.

I supported Mayor Coombs’s opponent, but I think Dennis will do an OK job as mayor. I have known Dennis for more than 20 years, and he is a good businessman and an intelligent guy. He will not be far to the left of former mayor Baum.

I can’t think of anyone alive who would not be to the left of Mr. Baum.
