Psycho Talk

Samples from the farthest reaches of the Longmont Lunatic Fringe and beyond

Coup d’état?

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), days after his swearing in (so his oath should have been fresh in his mind) – made a thinly-veiled threat that if the investigation into Trump’s crimes isn’t stopped, the United States is in danger of a “coup d’état”.

REALLY?

Mr. Gaetz, if the GOP impedes the investigation into Trump’s crimes, your entire party will be labelled as traitors for all time.

Sit down, shut up and READ YOUR DAMN OATH you oaf.

This is an open message to ALL Trump supporters – you idiots START a civil war and we’ll FINISH IT. When we’re done with  you there won’t be two bricks on top of each other in the red states. It will make Sherman’s march look like a church picnic.

Seriously. Stop the talk of insurrection. Do it now. It’s disgusting and unAmerican – which is becoming the GOPs callsign.

Call it what it is: Sedition

President Barack Obama

A recent letter to the Times-Call proves (again) that the ‘editor’ has no concept of what’s protected speech and what’s sedition. A common problem for right-wing ‘news’papers.

In ‘Criminal in the White House‘ Ron Klein of Berthoud states in regard to our President:

“He needs to be removed, prosecuted and punished under the law.”

Removed“? Really? How so?

I’ve noticed the chest-puffing blowhards always dance around this point, knowing full well the penalty that would occur if they came right out and voiced their secret desires.

Here’s what Wikipedia has to say about Sedition:

Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent (or resistance) to lawful authority.

Typically, sedition is considered a subversive act

The difference between sedition and treason consists primarily in the subjective ultimate object of the violation to the public peace.

So the purpose of sedition is to incite discontent (or resistance) to lawful authority.

What it boils right down to is that the birthers, like angry un-potty-trained children, absolutely refuse to obey the law. Like an angry child in a poopy diaper they only manage to smear it everywhere and disgust everyone with the filth and stench.

To quote David Brown from his hate-rant, “No, there will never be “enough” and with that he neatly sums up the birther movement – “never enough” – these are partisans so dead-set on getting their way that they would tear down the country and use the bricks for weapons.

Contrary to Mr. Brown’s lies, “the left” is not trying to surpress free speech – if the right wants Obama impeached, go right ahead and prate for that all you like. That’s the legal method. What we’re sick of hearing are the barely-veiled calls for violence and insurrection with the calls for him to be “removed” – make no mistake, force is implied by the use of that word.

For the Times-Call to publish such violent anti-American jingo is dismaying at least and proves again that there is still a lingering cancer that has tendrils throughout the organization.

Longmont deserves better.

“Has-Been Mayor” proves that talk is cheap

Sorry Mr. Baum, your own words condemn you

During the 2010 Longmont city council retreat, then mayor Bryan Baum proposed limiting Public Invited To Be Heard to 30 minutes, claiming ‘…it is ridiculous to have to listen for an hour and a half.’

Now, in a cynical attempt to rewrite history and recast his shattered public image he made the following remark on a local AM radio show:

“…the more… people you get speaking… as far as that goes… the better off it is…” (audio clip)

The hypocrisy is breathtaking and completely consistent with his tenure in office.

For this failed tyrant to announce to the public that those that campaigned against him should ‘…do penance…’ while sharing the microphone with one of the most vicious attack dogs in Longmont’s recent history just underlines how far out of touch he is.

Mr. Baum’s recent application for City Manager is also laughable – especially in light of his disdain for ousted council member Hansen applying to be on a city board. In the words of the radio commentator: ‘…we just got these guys out of here…’

It’s time for Bryan Baum to accept the fact that he was voted out by the people of Longmont – Republicans voted against him decisively – and his pathetic attempts to rewrite history aren’t going to pass the smell test.

It’s time for Bryan to admit that he really is the has-been mayor.

Become as children

Most childish tweet of the day:

This is what passes for discourse on the right in Longmont.

This is why things have to change.

Limbaugh’s mirrors

There should be no question that radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh is a defective human being, but the degree of his defects is breathtaking.

The list of his intellectual, moral and spiritual failures is never-ending. However, he recently outdid even himself. How he can stomach himself is beyond comprehension.

Bigotry is running rampant amongst “conservatives.” The issue this time is over which positions Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Steny Hoyer and Jim Clyborn will hold when they move to minority status in January.

In Limbaugh’s distorted brain, the issue was racist.

Mr. Limbaugh, you are consumed with racism and bigotry. It is why you see racism in those you consider your enemies. Look in your mirror, Mr. Limbaugh, look in your mirror. And you will see racism writ large.

Observe the proof here.

Not So Bonita

Once again vicious hatred finds a home at the Times-Call.

In the comment stream for

Time for change at state Capitol

NotSoBonita‘ takes yet another swipe at my deceased wife Marilyn Bonita Wray:

Correction, sometimes tumors do go away – one way or another.
NotSoBonita, Firestone, CO, 10/13/2010 8:59 PM

I believe the persons behind this pseudonym (and ‘BIL’) are Chris Rodriguez and his wife.

It’s just my opinion however, since the Times-Call won’t verify it – I’ve asked directly more than once.

Truly sad that someone has to resort to this kind of personal attack – on my dead wife no less.

Anyone that has proof is encouraged to come forward.

Something up their wazoo

Not sure what’s got all the local Repubs wound up but they sure are pissed off.

Smells like someone’s spreading money around.

You never get that kind of enthusiasm out of them otherwise.

Banjo music

Anonymous pseudonyms are so useful for hiding your identity when you just want to spew hate. Trouble is, if your target doesn’t care to be your poo-flinging victim it just looks sad. For example, someone using the fake name ‘Grandpa Jones’ (we’ve featured it before) seems to think my user account (M. Douglas Wray) at the Times-Call has been ‘canned.’

I regret to inform this particular howler that my access is still just fine. I just had better things to do till just now… unlike them:

I know, dootie. Go ahead, hurt the children. I’m with red on this one. This is just another liberal joke where you need 100 people working for the government to “help” 20 needy families. They probably recruit them from other counties to help create liberal jobs. So, at least the TC finally canned dooties account for awhile. I was getting tired of him lifting all our posts and claiming we’re all out to get him. What a joke.
GrandpaJones, longmont, co, 9/28/2010 1:34 PM

I never said ‘they were all out to get me’ – just a tiny cabal of angry partisans who desperately spend hours every day stomping their feet and looking for new ways to make fun of my name.

It’s no problem, I enjoy banjo music.

Standing Tall

The tone of the rhetoric from the rightwing lunatic fringe on the Longmont Times-Call article comments is growing nastier and nastier. Police officers recognize this escalation as a prelude to violence. However, the Times-Call has a ‘publish first and moderate by complaint’ system so hate speech and angry screeds against their political opponents appear while moderate responses are removed.

One commenter in particular, ‘BIL’ has a vicious tone that rings of the angry insult-laden screeds from some particularly repellent Longmont hate-bloggers:

Mr Wray, you and former council candidate Kaye Fissinger are the biggest harassers of the mayor (and his wife) on your piece o crapola website.

“Piece o crapola” ? Why, that’s not very civil.

Want to bet that comment isn’t removed from the Times-Call?

BIL seems to be allowed to violate the Times-Call’s Terms of Service regularly and yet continue posting. In my opinion it’s abundantly obvious to the casual observer why: it’s being condoned.

So far I’ve seen at least three ‘handles’ that are direct attacks on me:

NotSoBonita” – a particularly hateful slash at my recently-deceased wife’s middle name (Marilyn Bonita Wray) – for those not familiar with Spanish, ‘Bonita’ means ‘beautiful’ – this user’s handle is calling my lost dearly beloved ugly. You can’t really get any worse. Stunningly puerile and scurrilous.

macnwebguru” – an attempt to confuse my personal website domain – MacWebGuru.com with hateful remarks. This user is most certainly not me – I’ve only ever used my own name M. Douglas Wray.

and recently “Peggotty, Wray” is attempting to link me to the user name Peggotty, whom I am not.

The Times-Call management has been informed (more than once) and received formal requests to disable these accounts but thus far have not. Again, it does appear that this veiled smear attack is being condoned. Could it have something to do with the Times-Call ownership?

I know there are a lot of good people in Longmont horrified at what their city government has become and the cause sits in plain sight at the Council dias. Mr. Santos himself started this war with his “Let the attacks begin” email and with the help of unsavory elements he’s dragged the discourse in Longmont into the gutter, encouraging vicious, unprincipled partisans to lie, libel and smear with the willing assistance of Longmont’s oligarchy.

The truth will not be silenced regardless of how much money or hatred is brought to bear.

Free Range Longmont is here to stay and to keep Longmont’s voters informed of the nature of the ‘supporters’ behind “the controlling four.”

Go ahead, “Hurt the kids”

There it is, cold-blooded and hard-hearted as the worst of the far-right lunatic fringe can be:

From the comments on the Times-Call online article: School boards oppose tax cuts (all emphasis by editor)

We didn’t have these Taj Mahal buildings, and we learned so much more. We didn’t need to go to community college to finish a high school equivalency. You simply demand more from the kids, and they will meet those demands. Ask any coach. This time, I’ll go for the “devastation”, and “hurt the kids”. I’m voting for the cuts, and I’ll do anything I can to see those unions busted.

GrandpaJones, longmont, co, 9/19/2010 8:02 AM

The CO GOP wants to go back to the 1800s

I wonder if this conservative ‘hero’ would be so bold if their remarks could be traced back to them. Somehow I doubt it.

This nonstop howling for ‘the good old days’ is nothing more than reductionism at its very, very worst.

‘Grandpa Jones’ is no doubt one of the overfed, comfortably-well-off teahadists that regularly opine for the good old days and staunchly refuses to open their eyes that the world has changed – and continues to change.

Also, the idea that teachers are a dime-a-dozen harks back to the days of the one-room schoolhouse and is simply ignorance in its full and odiferous flower.

But remember this – when you hear people yelling ‘Cut! Cut! Cut!’ keep in mind that its your child they’re referring to when these faceless and gutless thugs yell “hurt the kids”.

Say no to the terrible three.

Proof that Grandpa Jones and ‘nickshaver’ are the same person – their own comment, added to the TC story two days after our story posted:

I’ve been honored by the “editor” of a self appointed blog claiming to be a “newspaper”, and I thank thee: http://www.freerangelongmont.com/2010/09/19/go-ahead-hurt-the-kids/

nickshaver, longmont, co, 9/21/2010 12:09 AM

Um, you should double-check your pseudonyms ‘nick‘ – ‘Grandpa Jones‘ was the original commenter. Could this be a certain far-far-far right Longmont blogger posting under two different pseudonyms? Sure looks like it to me. The public is advised to consider the strong likelyhood that ‘all those posts‘ are being written by one very bitter, angry and heavily-paid GOP operative.

Going after the statuesque

There are times when I have to thank the Tea Party for bringing so much laughter into my life.

This comment at the Times-Call is a classic and needs no further introduction:

In fifty years I’ve never seen a Mayor, Governor, Congressman or Senator standing against the statuesque for the betterment of Colorado and the U.S. – where his proven wisdom will support the healing of Colorado. The intrepid Tom Tancredo is our modern-day hero with genuine integrity, unafraid to take on all iniquities in the affairs of Colorado. He’s unafraid to dismiss the ongoing practices that’s suffocated employment and is intolerant of NAFTA that swallows our jobs. He’s a defender of the Constitution of The United States, your rights and he’s unafraid to go after the statuesque. Tom Tancredo stands a Mile High above the corruption of a run-away-government!

A reminder

For those wishing to comment, a reiteration of part of our comment policy:

If you want to speak here, you’ll give your real name and accept the consequences of what you say.

Your real name is your first and last name, your ‘Christian name’ if you will. Most adults understand this but a small fringe group apparently does not.

I’ve noticed a desperate tone in the negative comments.

If you can’t use your real name here, you’re not welcome.

Get up, stand up

Here’s a quick roundup of all the insanity flyin around the internet recently:

Glen Beck fans prove that you can make some of the people believe anything all of the time. It’s really scary. These are the 20-percenters. The staunch never-wavering bedrock of the outer fringe. Imagine what these deluded men and women would do if given real power. That should help you with GOTV.

And while we’re on the subject of insanity and denialism, how about Coburn denouncing Gingrich:

“He’s the last person I’d vote for for president of the United States,” Coburn said, per the Tulsa World. “His life indicates he does not have a commitment to the character traits necessary to be a great president. Coburn said that Gingrich’s personal history indicates that he “doesn’t know anything about commitment to marriage.”

Now that’s brutal. True but brutal. Gingrich doesn’t care. And right there in a nutshell you have the GOP approach to morals. “Do as I say, not as I live.” or as Newt himself said:

“It doesn’t matter what I do,” he answered. “People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.”

The hypocrisy is breathtaking. The audacity and arrogance more so.

And then we have Glen Beck comparing himself to Martin Luther King, Jr. – this chart helps clarify how completely nightmarish that comparison is and underlines Becks ever-widening break with reality.

Meanwhile, at the ‘liberal media’ outlet CNN, there’s a bit of a reconciliation problem.

And it gets worse when you find out who’s really behind the Teabaggers.

Is it any wonder that Boulder is not only smarter but happier?

Think about it Longmont. There are people who like to be stupid and angry – and they’re being organized by big money.

Get involved.

For the record, here’s Beck calling Obama a racist:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9VPFLHmLbE

Those people that are big Beck fans but deny he said it are hypocrites. Period.

Here’s Beck comparing himself to MLK – it’s at 3:37 and it’s repulsive:

Republican Insanity: Piece by piece

First in an occasional series of articles that defines who and what represents Republicanism in the United States of America and why, everywhere across this great land, we are in danger of losing the ability of rational self-determination, individually and collectively.

A Tea Party Manifesto: “The movement is not seeking a junior partnership with the Republican Party. It is aiming for a hostile takeover.”

Daniel Webster, Republican Florida congressional candidate:

Have you ever heard of Roach Motel Marriages? Well if Daniel Webster, candidate from Florida for the U.S. Congress has his way, that’s what we will live by. Why “Roach Motel”? — You can check in, but you can’t check out.

In the Florida Legislature, Dan Webster sponsored and supported a bill to institute “covenant marriage.” In a covenant marriage, you can’t get divorced. There is an exception for adultery, but there’s a catch. If one party (for example, an abused woman who deliberately commits adultery to get out of the marriage) finds out that the other party also committed adultery, then she’s stuck FOREVER.

There is only one place where in the entire world where both divorce and annulment are forbidden, The Taliban Government in Northwest Pakistan.

Taliban Dan wants to inflict the same on Americans. The man with the 19th century name wants to pass 13th century laws.

Dan Webster is not just a part of some lunatic fringe and someone to ignore. He’s what now passes for mainstream Republicanism and is just one example of those who would destroy our freedoms and everything else we hold dear. He was Speaker of the Florida House, Majority Leader of the Florida Senate and in the State Legislature for 28 years.
